Robbie Malinoski swept the opening two rounds of AMSOIL Championship Snocross competition in Duluth, Minnesota.
Robbie Malinoski swept the opening two rounds of AMSOIL Championship Snocross competition in Duluth, Minnesota, while also leading a historic team sweep of the podium on Sunday. For Malinoski, it was the first time he has won both days of a national tour stop since 2006. From a team standpoint, it was the first time ever, that three riders from the same trailer have filled every spot on the Pro Open podium.
In total, the Makita backed team captured five of the six podium positions during the AMSOIL Duluth national. Our newest team rider and defending series champion, Tim Tremblay, recorded a third place in round one and second place in round two, while last season’s Pro Open Rookie of the Year, Darrin Mees, continued his progression with his first ever Pro Open podium, finishing third on Sunday.
All three riders scored heat race victories throughout the weekend as the Makita tools helped prepare the AMSOIL/Ski-Doo snowmobiles to repeatedly grab holeshots on the field.
With the next tour stop two weeks away, the team will now have more time to prepare for rounds two and three than we had in the entire mad rush leading up to the series opener in Duluth.
Prior to the event, the team took part in school visits at area high schools, awarding two, Race to the Future scholarships and also conducted a meet and greet at the track on Saturday with fans who signed up via the Rockstar Energy Drink snowmobile giveaway being promoted throughout the upper Midwest.
Up next is the Blackjack National in Bessemer, Michigan on December 7 & 8.
