MAKITA’S OFF ROAD TEAMS DOMINATE UNDER THE LIGHTS AT GLEN HELEN RACETRACK

Deegan, MacCachren, LeDuc all capture podium finishes in Rounds 9 and 10.

Brian Deegan closes out the weekend with a first place podium finish

It was a great weekend for the Makita-backed teams of Rob MacCachren, Brian Deegan and Todd LeDuc rivers as they dominated with six podium finishes in San Bernardino, California for Rounds 9 and 10 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).

Packed House Endures Triple Digit Heat
Before the first nighttime race of the season kicked off, fans filled the grand stands under the beating San Bernardino heat. As the sun set and the temperatures lowered the illuminated Glen Helen Raceway set the stage for elite racing. The sold out venue witnessed aggressive yet precise driving as the athletes churned the dirt on Glen Helen’s tight, fast turns. Huge jumps and highly technical obstacles weren’t the only tests they faced, as an extremely tight points battle waged in all classes.

Makita Knows Off-Road
Off the track Makita Industrial Power Tools were at work in the pits in the hands of the skilled mechanics that kept the 850+ horsepower trucks on-track and in top condition for two days of intense racing. Many teams turned to Makita’s 18V Cordless LXT Lithium-Ion tools to meet the intense demands of two days of racing.

MacCachren Eludes Victory #200 but Still Lands on Podium
An intriguing subplot to the dramatic nighttime competition was Rockstar Energy Drink / Makita Tools’ Rob MacCachren. With 199 total career victories coming in to this weekend’s race all eyes were on MacCachren as he aimed for career win #200.

MacCachren struggled to reach his historic victory and although he landed on the podium he fell just short of #200. Remaing in high spirits, MacCachren reflects on the results of LOORRS Rounds 9 and 10, “Of course I love winning races, everyone loves winning races. Winning championships are much more difficult; they require all the pieces of the puzzle.  Not just a good driver but the best components and a team that has the knowledge to bring it all together.”

MacCachren placed third in Saturday’s Pro 2 and fell behind in Sunday’s race. MacCachren is ready for his next race and gunning for first to claim his 200th victory.

Brian Deegan in Pro 2 and Pro Lite
The defending Pro 2 champ, Rockstar Metal Mulisha Makita’s Brian Deegan had a rough return to the track on Saturday but came back strong Sunday bringing home the victory. “It’s weekends like these that I really appreciate my crew and my sponsors,” Deegan said. “They had my back every step of the way, from no brakes to flat tires, nothing can stop us. We were able to close down the points lead in Pro 2, and narrow the points gap to stay ahead in the championship battle.” As the defending champ in the Pro Lite division Deegan finished in third on Saturday and second on Sunday walking away with three podium finishes out of four races.

Todd LeDuc in Pro 4
Todd LeDuc has been a model of consistency so far this season with six podium finishes in his Rockstar Makita Ford truck and he added two more this weekend. The reigning "Rookie of the Year" placed second on Saturday and on Sunday stood under his brother in third as Kyle took home second.
