Powerful. Well-balanced. Easy to maneuver. Quiet.
That's what the editors of Fine Homebuilding and Fine Woodworking had to say about the Makita 4350FCT Top Handle Jigsaw.
Taunton Press (Fine Homebuilding & Fine Woodworking) rounded up seven pro-level top-handle jigsaws from Bosch, DeWalt, Festool, Makita, Metabo, Milwaukee, and Porter Cable for their annual 2012 Tool Guide. They tested the tools for basic differences in speed, control, size, weight, and power, as well as features like L.E.D. lights, vacuum ports, dust blowers, and cases. They tested the seven saws on softwoods, hardwoods, plywood, metal, and porcelain tile in their review.
In the end, the Makita 4350FCT was named "BEST OVERALL" and the "Editors' Choice. They liked the compact size and well-balanced design of the 4350FCT, as well as the tool's maneuverability, low noise, soft-start feature, and the line of sight to the cut line (they called it "just right"). The editors also liked the power, noting that the Makita "sliced through all the materials with ease, even working through 4x4 ipe posts better than any other saw."
