WOOD MAGAZINE NAMES MAKITA 18V COMPACT DRIVER-DRILL THE "TOP TOOL"

Editors impressed with LXFD01CW's long run time, fast charge, and high torque

WOOD Magazine reaches over 505,000 readers each month.

WOOD Magazine (circulation: 505,000) rounded up eight 18V Compact half-inch driver-drills and tested them for torque, run time, and charge time. They also evaluated each drill's chuck, L.E.D. lights (if they had one), grip, and overall balance.

Competitors included 18V Compact Drills from Bosch, DeWalt, Hitachi, Milwaukee, Ridgid, Ryobi, Skil, and Makita.  In the end, WOOD named the Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion Driver-Drill (LXFD01CW) as their TOP TOOL.

The WOOD editor noted that the Makita "offers a trifecta of important features: long run time, short recharge time, and lots of torque." In fact, the Makita won both the lag-screw driving power (torque) test, and also the battery charge time test. The Makita was just two holes short of the lead in run time (1" spade bits drilled into 2-by lumber), but even in 2nd place the Makita drilled about 50 percent more than the DeWalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Skil drills.

Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion
Makita created the 18V Compact Lithium-Ion category in 2006 with the BDF452HW 1/2" Driver-Drill. The LXFD01CW, the successor to this innovative drill, takes compact 18V Lithium-Ion to an even higher level with more power, improved ergonomics, less weight, and the fastest charge time on the market at only 15 minutes. Just like it was in 2006, there's nothing like it on the market right now.

The Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion 1/2" Driver-Drill was named TOP TOOL by Wood Magazine in their December 2011 issue.

TORQUE: The Makita LXFD01CW features higher torque (480 in.lbs.), yet weighs only 3.3 lbs.

CHARGE TIME: Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion Compact batteries deliver the fastest charge time in the industry.
