MAKITA'S GROWING LINE OF CONCRETE HAMMERS ENGINEERED WITH EXCLUSIVE AVT NOW AT SEVEN

Anti-Vibration Technology greatly reduces vibration, directs more impact energy to the work surface

JANUARY 18, 2011 - LA MIRADA, CA - Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, has expanded its line of concrete hammers equipped with the company’s exclusive Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT). AVT is an exclusive counterbalance system that greatly reduces vibration and directs more impact energy to the work surface for increased user comfort and greater productivity.

“Makita hammers equipped with AVT are truly best-in-class,” said Adam LIvingston, Makita Product Manager, Commercial and Industrial Products. “AVT reduces vibration, so more power in the motor is delivered to the tool bit, not the user. This improves the performance of the tool, and it improves the experience of the tool user.”

Makita’s growing lineup of hammer products featuring the company’s exclusive Anti-Vibration Technology now numbers seven.

About Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT)
Makita has adapted the science of earthquake engineering into power tools with Makita’s Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT). AVT is an exclusive counterbalance design that provides the professional a power tool solution with less vibration, less noise and more efficient power. Seismic research has developed this damping science over years to absorb the shocks and protect buildings from devastation of earthquake vibrations. Makita’s exclusive AVT involves engineering where a mechanical damper, effectively a counter balance weight, provides an equal and opposite force that puts a mass directly opposite the point at which the striker bolt delivers the impact. As vibration is eliminated power is efficiently increased, allowing more of the generated energy in the motor to be delivered to the tool bit.

AVT is clearly demonstrated in model HM1810, the 70 lb. Breaker that is for heavy demolition applications.  Model HM1810 combines hard hitting power with less vibration (only 8 m/s²), with a powerful Makita-built 15 AMP motor, 1,100 BPM, 63 joules of impact energy, with a reduced noise level of only 107 dB.
