MAKITA-BACKED OFF ROAD DRIVERS LIGHT UP NEW TRACK IN UTAH

Deegan, LeDucs, Naughton, McGrath deliver strong performances in Rounds 7-8

Jeremy McGrath of the Makita-backed Stronghold Motorsports Team raced to a 2nd place finish in the highly competitive PRO 2 class.

JUNE 30, 2011 – La Mirada, CA – Rockstar Metal Mulisha’s Brian Deegan, Rockstar Makita LeDuc Racing Team, and Stronghold Motorsports were clearly ready for another round of racing, this time at Rounds 7 and 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series last weekend at the state-of-the-art Miller Motorsports facility in Tooele, UT.

The debut of the all new purpose built track at the expansive facility was greeted with standing room-only crowds and intense racing throughout the weekend.

In Pro 4 Unlimited Action, the Rockstar Makita LeDuc Racing Team of Curt, Todd, and Kyle LeDuc came out swinging with all three of them running in the top 5 at the start. When it was all said and done, Kyle LeDuc managed to capture the victory on Saturday and followed it up with a second place on Sunday. Kyle now sits third in the overall points with Todd and Curt eighth and ninth respectively.

“The General,” Brian Deegan of Rockstar Metal Mulisha Makita had a strong weekend as well both in Pro 2 and ProLite action. Brian ran up front all weekend and managed to put his Rockstar Metal Mulisha Makita Ford on the box in second place in Pro 2 on Saturday which allowed him to pick up some valuable points on the leader. Deegan is currently second in overall points, a mere three points behind the leader. In ProLite action, Deegan was the fastest man on the track but had trouble passing for the lead and was forced to settle for second place. Deegan is currently second in overall points in ProLite’s.

Taking home the victory in the Pro 2 Unlimited class on Saturday and Sunday to sweep the weekend was the Makita-backed Stronghold Motorsports driver, Rob “Fig” Naughton. Rob was impressive all weekend as he was determined to put his truck on top of the podium. Rob’s teammate and fellow Makita sponsored driver Jeremy McGrath followed him across the finish line on Sunday to claim second place.

CBS Sports captured all the action for a rebroadcast on Sunday, July 17 (check local listings).
