MAKITA'S HIGH-POWER GRINDER LINE-UP DELIVERS MORE POWER FOR THE MOST DEMANDING APPLICATIONS

Makita's growing grinder line-up includes 10 models with 10.5 AMPS or more

NOVEMBER 10 2011 - LA MIRADA, CA - Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, continues to expand it’s line-up of best-in-class grinders engineered with performance, protection and ease-of-use features. An increasing number of Makita grinders are equipped with 10 or more AMPS for demanding applications, and are ideal for professional tradesman including welders, fabricators, plumbers, masons, electricians, automotive, stone and tile work, HVAC, and more.

“Makita now has 30 angle grinder models, providing the exact tool for most every application” said Adam Livingston, Product Manager, Commercial and Industrial Products.  “This growing line-up includes ten high-power models with ten or more amps, engineered to deliver the power and performance required for the most demanding applications.”ma

Eight of Makita’s high-powered 10+ AMP grinders are engineered with Makita’s exclusive SJS technology. SJS is a Makita innovation where the motor armature and spiral bevel gear are linked by a coil spring. If the grinding wheel should accidentally catch or bind, the coil spring relaxes and disengages the gears from the motor. As the grinding wheel stops, the gears and motor are protected. And since SJS is a mechanical function – not electronic – the grinder does not require a restart if the wheel binds, which reduces downtime and increases productivity.

All Makita grinders feature labyrinth construction, which seals and protects the motor from exterior dust and debris by creating a complex set of channels and prohibiting contamination. In addition, the protective zig-zag varnish seals the motor from dust and debris by creating a barrier under rotation.

Makita high powered grinders are built to suit the most demanding applications, including cutting, ferrous metal, paint and rust removal, shipyard maintenance, heavy machinery, metal polishing, general steel grinding, auto repair work, cutting brick and masonry, and restoration work. The grinders are built for professional tradesman, including welders, fabricators, plumbers, masons, electricians, automotive, stone and tile work, HVAC, and more.
