Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing’s David Vuillemin took a top ten finish for the second week in a row, placing tenth at the AMA Supercross at Houston’s Texas Reliant Stadium in front of 49,986. In the Lites class, Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ryan Dungey started fast and earned the holeshot, but later crashed and had to battle for a fourth place finish.
Vuillemin’s tenth place was his second top ten finish in as many weeks. His race was impressive after crashing hard in his heat race, and rallying in the Last Chance Qualifier for a spot in the main. Vuillemin (below and bottom right) is tenth in the overall point standings. Teammate Mike Alessi is still recovering after breaking his collarbone last week at the San Diego round, and did not race. Kevin Windham of Team Honda was first, with overall points leader Chad Reed of Team Yamaha in second.
In the Lites class, Dungey remains in second place in the point standings, behind Jason Lawrence of Team Yamaha.
The Houston Race is scheduled to broadcast on SPEED on February 22 at 12 noon, Feb. 23 at 10 p.m., and on Feb. 27 at 3 a.m. (all times Eastern, subject to change).
Racing returns next Saturday, February 23 at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. The event is scheduled to broadcast on CBS on Sunday, February 24 at 12 noon (Eastern). SPEED will also re-broadcast the race. Check http://www.supercrossonline.com for the 2008 Supercross race and television schedule.
