Makita Suzuki’s Nathan Woods and JP Davis both scored podium finishes at the World Off Road Championship Series this weekend with Woods taking second in the Pro 1 main and Davis taking third in the Pro 2 main.
Woods gated well and quickly fought his way into the lead pack. Nathan worked his way into the lead and looked as though he might score another run-a-way victory, but a small mis-step dropped him to second. Woods fought hard to close the gap on the leader and recorded one of the fastest lap times of the race. He charged his way to a clear second place finish more then a minute ahead of the third place rider. Woods second place finish is his third podium of the season and he now is seventh in the points chase with 68.
Meanwhile, JP Davis took his Makita Suzuki Z450 to the Pro 2 holeshot and started gapping the field. Davis, who won round four, looked as though he was going to make it two in a row, but fate took a hand in the form a slick mud-hole which dropped Davis on his head. JP quickly recovered, but was covered in mud and goggle blind. He charged his way forward from back in 12th place and, with fresh goggles, worked his way up to third by the end of the two-hour main event. Davis now sits third in the Pro 2 points chase with 110/1win.
