Hayward, WI (March 9, 2009) - Another record crowd witnessed the top racers in the world compete in round seven of the AMSOIL/ISOC SnoCross Championships.
It was very evident both Shaun and DJ were in positions to win the main event after qualifying on the front row. When the flag dropped both drivers were at the front of the pack. Near the end of the first lap D.J. had his skis taken out from him and ejected him from the sled. The Racer behind him was unable to stop and ran him over and DJ was pinned under the sled. It was a scary situation for a while, but DJ was eventually able to walk away under his own power, although is weekend was done on the track. DJ should be back racing for round eight in two weeks. On the ensuing restart, Shaun made an agressive leap of the first straight triple jump to secure third place and a gap on the rest of the field. From there, he kept pace with the race leaders and gained his second podium in the last three events.
With Shaun carrying the torch for the team it looked like it could be a repeat of the Pro Stock results. Shaun qualified strong and was running in the top five in the main event when the ignition system started failing after two laps. The performance of the sled dropped rapidly and all Shaun could do was to nurse it around the track. This was our first mechanical/electrical issue in two years so we knew it would happen sooner or later.
Semi Pro
Ryan Carey once again made the main event in Pro Stock and put on a strong performance in the final.
