REED ADDS HIS NAME TO THE GROWING CONFIRMATION LIST FOR ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK U.S. OPEN

Former Two-Time Champion Chases After Third Title

AURORA, Ill. (July 10, 2009) – Feld Motor Sports announced today former two-time champion Chad Reed, of Tampa, Fla., will race at this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena October 9-11.
On the opening night of last year’s race, Reed was forced to withdraw from the competition due to a mechanical problem suffered in a crash on lap one. The second night of racing offered fans one of the greatest races in Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open history between Reed and James Stewart. After leading the first 16 laps of last year’s Saturday main event, Reed suffered a huge crash that ended his chances at winning the race.
“I look forward to the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open every year,” said Reed. “I really enjoy racing on a tight and technical race track. The racing is always intense at this event. You have to be on your game both Friday and Saturday, and I won it (the race) in ’03 and ’04 and plan on adding an ’09 win to that list.”
Reed won back-to-back Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open championships in 2003 and 2004, besting rival and AMA Supercross/Motocross legend Ricky Carmichael. Known for his indoor skills, Reed has 38 career AMA Supercross wins and is third on the all-time win list.
Reed came to the U.S. from Australia in 2002 and has quickly become one of the world’s top supercross racers. In his AMA rookie year, he won the 125cc Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Series. The following season he moved to the premier AMA Supercross class, winning eight races and scoring an additional six podium finishes en route to second place in points standings. In 2004, Reed had his best season ever, earning 10 wins and the first championship of his career. Since moving into the premier class, he has yet to finish worse than third place in AMA Supercross.
