A crowd of 30,000 were on hand at the Finger Lakes Gaming Casino to watch Round 5 of the AMSOIL SnoCross Championship Series. Outstanding weather and one of the series priemer facilities combined for the perfect backdrop, as Amsoil Airforce Makita\'s Shaun Crapo scored the team\'s first win of the season, while putting on a clinic in Pro Stock.
In the qualifying heat Shaun took the start and never looked back, winning by a substantial margin. In the final Shaun and fellow Polaris racer, T.J. Gulla, distanced themselves from the pack. Going through lapped traffic Shaun took over the lead and went on to claim the checkered flag.
After the race Shaun said, “Being on the top of the Podium feels great, the team has worked non-stop since the preseason and our equipment is running great.” This win put Shaun back in the top five in points and back in contention for the series championship. Meanwhile D.J. Eckstrom, who is still recovering from his crash the weekend before, and only took starts to gather a few valuable points. Eckstrom will begin riding again this week and is expected to return to action at round 6.
In the Pro Open Shaun once again qualified strong and made it to the main event. In the final Shaun had another strong run and finished in the top ten when the checkered flag fell.
First year Semi-Pro rider Ryan Carey, continues to improve his performances. Ryan qualified for both main events in a field of over 50 competitors.
