New 36V battery charges in just 30 minutes
SEPTEMBER 3, 2009 La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories, is proud to announce the release of the company’s first ever 36V cordless tool, the 36V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1” Rotary Hammer Kit, model BHR261. The new cordless rotary hammer adds to Makita’s extensive LXT Series of cordless tools featuring LXT Lithium-Ion Battery Technology, a breakthrough in cordless that delivers more power, less weight and better engineering. The new BHR261 was engineered to deliver the speed and power of a corded 1” SDS-PLUS rotary hammer, with the added flexibility of cordless operation.

The new BHR261 has a Makita-built motor that delivers 0-1,200 RPM and 0-4,800 BPM for speed and power. It has 3 modes of operation for “rotation only,” “hammering with rotation,” or “hammering only.” The built-in torque limiter ensures stable torque control. In addition, the one-touch sliding chuck enables easy bit changes, and the built-in L.E.D. light illuminates the drilling surface for improved visibility.
The hard-hitting BHR261 has enhanced durability features, so the tool beats up the work surface – not the tool or the tool user. It has an ergonomically designed vibration absorbing handle and a large 2-finger trigger for reduced operator fatigue.
The BHR261 is ideal for concrete, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC trades, as well as general contractors who require a best-in-class engineered cordless 36V rotary hammer.
The BHR261 is powered by Makita’s 36V LXT Lithium-Ion Battery Technology and Rapid Optimum Charging System, a breakthrough in cordless technology producing 430% total lifetime work with two-and-a-half times more battery cycles when compared to traditional 36V Ni-Cd batteries. The Rapid Optimum Charger is ENERGY STAR rated for its charging efficiency, and will charge a Makita 36V LXT Lithium-Ion battery in just 30 minutes.
Model BHR261 is a kit that includes (2) two 36V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries, 30-minute Rapid Optimum Charger, side handle, depth gauge, and tool case.

Makita’s Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Series
As one of the pioneers driving the cordless tool revolution, Makita changed the game with its breakthrough 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Series. Makita also offers an Optimum Automotive Charger for 18V LXT and 18V Compact Lithium-Ion batteries, which plugs into 12V DC sockets equipped in most automobiles and trucks for added mobility.
