April 13, 2007 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories, will extend its visibility in the world of live race events with the Team Makita Suzuki Monster Truck competing in the nationally televised Monster Truck Jam in Las Vegas this weekend. Team Makita Suzuki driver Bobby Parr will be at the wheel of a modified Chevy S-10, equipped with 66” Terra Tires, a COAN 2-Speed Transmission, and a 540 ci Merlin Engine with 1465 horsepower. Team Makita Suzuki’s truck qualified for the Las Vegas event based on wins posted so far this season. The coverage on CBS, airing Sunday, is a rebroadcast of the finals held in Las Vegas March 24-25.

Team Makita Suzuki Racing is already a fixture on the Supercross and Motocross circuits. Team riders Ivan Tedesco, Ryan Dungy, and reigning champion Ricky Carmichael have consistently placed in the lead pack in stadium Supercross events and Motocross dirt track races across the country. Makita is also the Official Tool Sponsor of Major League Soccer, as well as the Mexican National Soccer Team (FMF) and Interliga, the qualifying tournament that determines two berths for Mexican clubs to the Copa Libertadores. And in January, Makita joined Billabong and Monster Energy Drink as a sponsor of the Monster Energy Pipeline Pro in Hawaii, an event that drew top surfers from around the world.
The Monster Truck Jam is produced by Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports, one of the world’s largest producers and promoters of specialized motor sports events, presenting over 300 events consisting of over 500 performances at premier arena and stadium venues across North America. The United States Hot Rod Monster Jam (USHRA) events, featuring 10,000 pound monster trucks, are witnessed by fans across the U.S., with over 3.5 million tickets sold to live events during the 2004 season. The USHRA sanctions the world’s premier monster trucks in the industry including Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Maniac, Bounty Hunter, Hot Wheels, Pit Bull, Superman, El Toro Loco and Towasaurus Wrex. These are just a few of the over 100 different trucks that compete at the Monster Jam events.
