MAKITA DELIVERS POWERFUL NEW 8-1/4” MAGNESIUM CIRCULAR SAW WITH THE LIGHTEST WEIGHT IN ITS CATEGORY

NOVEMBER 27, 2007  La Mirada, CA - Makita USA, Inc., manufacturer of professional quality power tools and accessories, is proud to announce the launch of their new 8-1/4” Magnesium Circular Saw (model 5008MGA). The saw features highly durable magnesium components and a 15 AMP Makita-built industrial motor, powerful enough to cut through the densest lumber. Magnesium components allowed Makita to develop a more rigid platform while keeping the weight to a reduced 10.6 pounds. This powerful saw is the lightest in its category, and is perfect for framers, roofers, as well as general contractors who require a best-in-class engineered circular saw.

“We’ve reduced the weight by over one pound from our previous model, and it’s the lightest model in its category by over two pounds,” said Susan Gibson, Makita Product Manager. “But in addition to its lighter weight and user features, this saw has a three-inch maximum cutting capacity.  The new 5008MGA is a complete package.”

In addition to the magnesium components, the 5008MGA is built with other durability features including a reinforced power cord and easily replaceable parts for lower repair costs. The die-cast gusseted magnesium base is lightweight and strong to withstand jobsite abuse, yet is easily replaceable, extending the life of the tool.

Makita also engineered ergonomics and ease-of-use into the saw, including clearly visible depth and bevel markings and rubber moldings for a comfortable grip that resists slips. The large rubberized levers provide quick, one-handed adjustments for more efficient work.

The saw has the largest cutting capacity in its class (3” at 90 degrees) with a maximum bevel capacity of 50 degrees, and positive stops at 45 and 22.5 degrees for quick back-and-forth changes.

Additional design details include greater clearance between the rear handle and the blade case to provide a better grip for larger hands or for users with gloves, as well as a wider space between the blade and housing for a clearer view of the blade and measurement scale. The saw features twin L.E.D. for better illumination, as well as a built-in dust blower which directs motor exhaust to the line of cut, ensuring the work area remains highly visible. And in a clear point-of-difference, the top handle is easily replaceable should the saw fall, extending the life of the tool. The 5008MGA includes an electric brake for maximum productivity.

The 5008MGA 8-1/4” Circular Saw is built for framing walls, floors and roofs using a range of dimensional lumber and dense engineered lumber, including LVL, Parallam and I-Joists, headers and microlams; as well as ripping panels such as plywood, OSB, particle board, and dense structural panels like Advantech. Other applications include plunge cutting, pocket cutting, and bevel cutting, as well as masonry and metal cutting.

The 5008MGA includes a carbide tipped blade, blade wrench, and rip fence.
