NEW MAKITA 18V LXT RECIPRO SAWS GIVE CONTRACTORS FREEDOM FROM THE CORD

New additions include 18V X2 (36V) model powered by two 18V batteries

La Mirada, CA – Makita® has released three new 18V LXT® Recipro Saws that combine cutting speed with convenience features for faster, more efficient cutting. Each is powered by the industry’s fastest-charging 18V lithium-ion batteries, allowing users to remain in one battery platform and use the same fast-charging 18V batteries across the Makita 18V LXT® cordless tool system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by an 18V lithium-ion slide-style battery.

XRJ06: Powered by TWO 18V LXT Batteries for Maximum Power, Run Time
The 18V X2 LXT® (36V) Lithium-Ion Brushless Recipro Saw XRJ06M) is powered by TWO 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum power and run time. It has an electronically-controlled BL™ Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18V X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like cutting and demolition that traditionally called for a corded recipro saw. Best of all, users can remain in one battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18V batteries on the XRJ06M as they use across the Makita 18V LXT® cordless tool line-up.

The XRJ06M is equipped with efficiency features for faster cutting. The long 1-1/4” stroke length increases cutting efficiency, and the refined crank mechanism design minimizes blade deflection and reduces vibration. Convenience features include an L.E.D. light to illuminate the line of cut, retractable tool hook, and “tool-less” blade change for faster blade installation and removal.

18V X2 Creates New Run-Time Standards
18V X2 tools, including the new XRJ06M Recipro Saw, will set new standards in run time, especially when used with Makita high amp hour batteries including the new 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 6.0Ah battery. Makita 18V X2 LXT® (36V) cordless tools, powered by two 18V batteries, are engineered to deliver maximum power and run time for select highest-demand applications like cutting – but without leaving the 18V battery platform or investing in heavier, high-voltage batteries.

Watt Hours: the Best Cordless Performance Indicator
“When contractors search for a cordless replacement for a corded tool, voltage is only part of the story,” said Carlos Quintana, Sr. Product Manager, Cordless, Makita U.S.A. “Watt hours, the product of amp hours and voltage, measures the amount of work performed by the tool and is a better performance indicator.”

Watt hours is calculated by multiplying voltage and amp-hours. It is a key indicator of battery capacity and run time, and this example offers a comparison between the BL1860 and a higher voltage battery:

Makita 18V LXT 6.0Ah
  • 18V x 6.0Ah = 108 watt hours
  • 18V X2 LXT Recipro Saw powered by TWO 18V 6.0Ah batteries: 2 x 108 = 216 watt hour
60V 2.0Ah battery
  • 60V x 2.0Ah = 120 watt hours

“The new 18 volt six amp-hour battery will create new standards in cordless efficiency and productivity,” Quintana added. “With two six amp hour batteries, an 18 volt X2 tool can meet and exceed corded tool performance, but with the same fast-charging 18 volt batteries that contractors use on their core 18 volt tools like drills and impact drivers, as well as flashlights, fans, radios, and many more. For contractors, it’s one 18 volt battery platform and one solution.”

XRJ05: Balance, Ergonomics, and an Efficient Brushless Motor
The 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Brushless Recipro Saw (XRJ05M) combines superior balance and ergonomics with the power and efficiency of a brushless motor. It has an electronically-controlled BL™ Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application, and is powered by the industry’s fastest charging 18V lithium-ion batteries.

The XRJ05M shares many of the same features as the XRJ06, including a long 1-1/4” stroke length for increased cutting efficiency, and the refined crank mechanism design to minimize blade deflection and reduce vibration. Convenience features include an L.E.D. light to illuminate the line of cut, a retractable tool hook, and “tool-less” blade change for faster blade installation and removal.

Also available in a non-brushless version, model XRJ04, available in a kit (XRJ04M) and as a tool only (XRJ04Z).

World’s Largest Cordless Tool Line-Up
These three new cordless solutions are part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, which offers 150+ tools and is the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

XPT™ for Added Durability
For increased durability, each tool is equipped with Extreme Protection Technology (XPT), a protective seal inside the tool engineered for improved dust and moisture resistance by channeling debris away from the tool’s key internal components.

Star Protection Computer Controls™
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, the XBU02Z and XRU07Z feature Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating. For increased versatility, the XBU02Z and XRU07Z can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.
