MAKITA BRINGS MORE LANDSCAPING SOLUTIONS TO GIE+EXPO 2016

Landscapers and forestry pros benefit from expanded MM4® 4-stroke, 18V LXT® cordless, and 2-stroke power equipment lines

OCTOBER 19, 2016 – Louisville, KY – Makita returns this week to the GIE+EXPO with more solutions for landscaping, hardscape applications, forestry and related maintenance. Included are efficient MM4® 4-stroke engine products, more easy-starting 2-stroke professional chain saws, and the world’s largest cordless equipment/tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide style batteries.

The Green Industry and Equipment (GIE) EXPO, the industry’s largest annual trade show, takes place this week in Louisville, KY. Makita is exhibiting both indoors and outdoors at the GIE+EXPO. Here are highlights of what attendees will see in Louisville:

MM4® 4-Stroke Engine Technology
Engine seizure due to improper fuel and oil mixing is one of the most common failures of 2-stroke power equipment. Makita is delivering a better solution with MM4® 4-stroke engine power equipment, which includes backpack and handheld blowers, concrete power cutters, m blowers, string trimmers, brush trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers, telescoping pole pruners and
couple shafted (spilt boom) products. Makita has one of the largest product offerings of handheld, crankcase lubricated, multi-position true 4-stroke engine products.

This week at GIE, Makita is featuring the new MM4 4-Stroke Engine Mist Blower (model PM7650H). At 3.9 gallons it has the largest chemical tank capacity in the category, with a 75.6cc 3.67 HP commercial-duty engine for efficient spray dispersion. It is ideal for landscape contractors, orchardists, farmers, groundskeepers, and pest control professionals, particularly with recent mosquito eradication efforts to combat the Zika virus.

For hardscape applications, Makita created the world’s first 4-stroke engine power cutter with the 14” EK7651H. These efficient 4-stroke engine solutions go beyond exceptional tool performance, as they require no fuel mixing so users require only one gas can for all their power equipment.  In addition, Makita MM4® 4-stroke engines run quieter, idle smoother, have lower emissions, and give users quicker and easier starts. For landscape contractors, Makita’s expanding MM4® 4-stroke engine line-up means the convenience of one gas can for the equipment trailer – and no more fuel mixing.

2-Stroke Professional Chain Saws: From Teal to “Warm Red”
The integration of Makita and Dolmar power equipment is expanding the range of Makita-branded power equipment, including a major expansion of professional chain saws featuring a new “warm red” trade dress.

Under the Makita brand, the integration of Makita and Dolmar gives users a full range of professional chain saws for forestry, farm, and occasional use, as well as, products for the  construction professional.

Meet the Needs of Professional Users and Servicing Dealers
“Makita is giving landscapers, hardscape contractors and forestry professionals more solutions than any other manufacturer with efficient 4-stroke and 2-stroke engines, corded and cordless power equipment, and a range of accessories that help professional landscapers and contractors work more efficiently,” said Dennis Stauch, VP and General Manager, Outdoor Power Equipment, Makita U.S.A. “In the chain saw category, Makita is committed to expanding products, accessories, parts, and service support to meet the needs of professional users and servicing dealers.”

More 2-Stroke Engine Power Equipment
The expanded range of durable 2-stroke engine gas-powered chain saws will include 32cc saws for occasional or seasonal users, as well as 45cc-56cc mid-range for farm & ranch use and up to 60+cc for the forestry professional. Select models feature Easy Start technology, which is a spring-assisted starter combined with a low-spark ignition coil to significantly reduce pull-starting force for easier starts. Makita will incorporate user-specific features into select models including heated handles, full-wrap handles, “tool-less” chain tensioner, and more.

Makita’s chain saw line up will expand to around 26 models in 2016-2017 as the current Dolmar and Makita brands are integrated. Below is an overview of key features by category:

Makita has the world’s largest 18V cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries – and the line-up includes a growing range of solutions for landscape and construction contractors. Makita 18V X2 LXT® (36V) tools are powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries, so users get 36V power, speed and run-time without leaving the 18V battery platform. Makita offers 18V X2 (36V) blowers, as well as a hedge trimmer, string trimmer, and two chain saws, with more solutions are on the way. Makita also offers several cordless power equipment solutions that run on single 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion batteries including 18V 2.0Ah, 3.0Ah 4.0Ah, and 5.0Ah batteries, as well as the new 18V 6.0Ah battery which gives users twice the run time of 3.0Ah batteries. Makita 18V batteries also have the fastest charge-times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

This week at GIE+EXPO, Makita is announcing the release of the new 18V X2 LXT (36V) Chain Saw (XCU03Z, right). The saw features a Makita-built Outer Rotor BL™ Brushless Motor direct-drive system that provides high power efficiency equivalent to gas chain saw. It is powered by two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries, which are positioned for greater balance and ergonomics (available early 2017).

Also featured for landscape contractors is the new 18V LXT Fan Jacket (DFJ201Z, left). The 18V LXT® Cordless Fan Jacket has a power source that accepts Makita 18V LXT® and 18V Compact Lithium-Ion batteries that powers air circulation inside the jacket for up to 12 hours of run time on the high setting when using a 5.0Ah battery (BL1850 sold separately). It provides a degree of cooling for work in open sun, where it also reduces exposure to the sun’s damaging rays, or in closed spaces like attics or crawl spaces. It also includes a convenient on-board USB power port to re-charge electronic devices.

Anti-Vibration Technology for Less Vibration
Makita’s exclusive Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT®) is more than just a padded or spring-loaded handle. AVT® is an internal counterbalance system engineered into the tool that greatly reduces vibration for increased user comfort and productivity. Makita offers an AVT® solution in every major hammer class, from 1” rotary hammers to a 70 lb. breaker hammer. At GIE+EXPO, Makita will show select hammer solutions including the 27 lb. AVT® Demolition Hammer (model HM1214C), ideal for breaking concrete and for a range of hardscape applications.
