New 12V max CXT™ is more compact with more comfort and capacity
La Mirada, Calif. – Makita, a pioneer in cordless technology, has released the next generation of 12 volt with the 12V max CXT™ Lithium-Ion cordless tool series. Makita 12V max CXT™ features slide-style batteries so each tool’s handle is built with ergonomics in mind – not around the stem of a battery – for improved grip and comfort. Select models mark the first ever Makita brushless tools in the 12V category.
The launch line-up includes two driver-drills, a hammer driver-drill, impact driver, recipro saw, and 3-3/8” circular saw, as well as select 2-piece combo kits. There is also a brushless driver-drill and brushless hammer driver-drill. All eight tools are powered by new 12V max CXT™ Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries with on-board L.E.D. charge level indicators. This initial launch will be followed by more 12V max CXT™ tools.
More Compact, More Comfort, More Capacity
“These next generation 12-volt max cordless tools give users a more compact solution with more comfort and more capacity,” said Adam Livingston, senior product manager, cordless products. “The slide style battery means superior ergonomics and comfort, and allows go-to tools like the impact driver and drills to stand up on their own for added convenience. And for the first time we’re offering brushless motor 12 volt tools, as well as two and four amp-hour batteries for increased run-time.”
2.0Ah and 4.0Ah Batteries
The new 12V max CXT™ tools are available in kits with 2.0 amp-hour (Ah) batteries and charger. 12V max CXT™ tools are also available as “tool only” (batteries and charger sold separately), so it’s easy for users to expand their line-up. For extended run time, a new 4.0Ah battery with on-board L.E.D. charge level indicator is also available (BL1041B, sold separately).

- 12V max CXT™ Brushless 3/8” Driver-Drill Kit (FD07R1)
The new 12V max CXT™ Lithium-Ion 3/8” Driver-Drill has an efficient brushless motor that delivers 280 in.lbs. of Max Torque with 2 speeds (0-450, 0-1,500 RPM). The efficient brushless motor means more torque, increased capacity in wood, and a more compact size than the non-brushless model. It has 18 clutch settings, built-in L.E.D. light and a convenient 3/8” keyless chuck, yet weighs only 2.3 lbs. The new 12V max CXT™ Brushless Lithium-Ion 3/8” Hammer Driver-Drill delivers 280 in.lbs. of Max Torque with 2 speeds (0-450, 0-1,500 RPM). The efficient brushless motor means more torque, increased capacity in wood, and a more compact size than the non-brushless model. The new 12V max CXT™ Lithium-Ion Impact Driver delivers 970 in.lbs. of Max Torque, 0-2,600 RPM and 0-3,500 IPM, 16% faster than the previous model, yet weighs only 2.3 lbs. The Impact Driver is equipped with a built-in L.E.D. light, and a convenient ¼” hex chuck for quick bit changes. The kit includes the Impact Driver, two 12V max CXT™ 2.0Ah batteries, charger, and tool case.
- 12V max CXT™ 3/8” Driver-Drill Kit (FD05R1)
The new 12V max CXT™ Lithium-Ion 3/8” Driver-Drill delivers 250 in.lbs. of Max Torque with 2 speeds (0-450, 0-1,700 RPM) and 30% more speed than the previous model. It has 18 clutch settings, built-in L.E.D. light and a convenient 3/8” keyless chuck, yet weighs only 2.4 lbs. - 12V max CXT™ Recipro Saw (RJ03R1)
The new 12V max CXT™ Lithium-Ion Recipro Saw delivers a no-load speed of 3,300 strokes per minute with an efficient ½” stroke length for fast cutting. It features a dual-position on/off switch that allows for either paddle switch or trigger switch operation, and a “tool-less” blade change system for added convenience. At only 2.9 lbs., this compact recipro saw is ideal for cutting in tight spaces. The kit includes the Recipro Saw, 4” Metal Blade, two 12V max CXT™ 2.0Ah batteries, charger, and tool case.
- 12V max CXT™ 3-3/8” Circular Saw (SH02R1)
The new 12V max CXT™ Lithium-Ion 3-3/8” Circular Saw delivers a no-load speed of 1,500 RPM for faster cutting. It has depth adjustment, with a bevel capacity of 0°-45° and a cutting capacity of 1" (90°) and 5/8" (45°). The Circular Saw is well-balanced with a compact design (weighs only 3.5 lbs.). The kit includes the Circular Saw, 20T Carbide Tipped Blade, two 12V max CXT™ 2.0Ah batteries, charger, and tool case.
