How does the Makita 18V X2 LXT® 7-1/4" Circular Saw compare to the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Cordless 6-1/2” Circular Saw?

CopTool tried them both out, and called the Makita the clear winner. The other one? Great for "less demanding" work!

Unmatched Convenience, Capacity and Performance
Right out of the box, CopTool gave the XSH01X high marks for the convenience of getting 36V power and run-time, but without having to leave the strongly-preferred 18V platform. CopTool also liked the 7-1/4” capacity, noting that “just about every tool trailer in this country has a box of 7-1/4” blades but the 6-1/2” are more of a rare commodity.”

CopTool gave both saws to concrete form builders for some on-site testing. The Makita XSH01X cut stacks of 2x4 and 4x4 with ease. The Milwaukee Fuel couldn’t cut it, and even some of the their corded saws left a small edge on a 4×4, which required them to flip and cut again to get clean. They also raved about the 18V X2 Saw zipping through stacks of plywood and OSB (see CopTool's video above, taken at World of Concrete 2014). The Makita 18V X2 Saw also demonstrated a clear edge in run time over the M18 Fuel model.

In the end, CopTool called the Makita Saw the clear winner. Regarding the other saw, they noted that users might like the Milwaukee Fuel circular saw “if your work is a little less demanding.”
