MAKITA ADDS THREE NEW METALWORKING SOLUTIONS, INCLUDING THE INDUSTRY'S FIRST 18V CORDLESS NIBBLER

La Mirada, CA – Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, has added to its expanding line-up metalworking solutions with the 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Cordless Nibbler, model LXNJ01, the industry’s first 18V cordless nibbler. Makita has also released two new metal shears, the JS1602 16 Gauge Sheer and the JS3201 10 Gauge Shear.

Fast and Smooth Cutting, Without the Cord
The new LXNJ01 is the latest addition to Makita’s expanding 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion line-up, with 65+ tools powered by one 18V Lithium-Ion battery that reaches a full charge in only 30 minutes. The LXNJ01 is powered by a Makita-built motor that delivers 1,900 strokes-per-minute (SPM) for fast and smooth cutting. The die holder rotates 360° to meet the demands of the cutting direction, with a cutting radius of 1-3/4” (inner edge) and 2” (outer edge). The LXNJ01’s high capacity is ideal for cutting roofing sheet metal at thicknesses up to 16 gauge.

It is ideal for metal roofing and decking contractors, HVAC, and metal fab shop work.”

When cutting, the metal chips are conveniently disposed below the cutting material, which helps prevent damage to the work surface. In addition, a battery capacity warning system turns on an indicator light and automatically stops the motor to notify the user when it is time to recharge the battery. An additional feature is the anti-restart function, which prevents the motor from starting up when the battery is inserted with the switch locked on. The LXNJ01 is a kit and includes the Nibbler, 2 ea. 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion battery, 30 minute Rapid Optimum Charger, wrench, and Tool Bag. Model LXNJ01Z includes the tool only (batteries, charger and tool bag not included).

The new JS1602 and the JS3201 metal shears deliver class-leading power-to-weight ratios, with performance and comfort features engineered for the most demanding applications.

The new JS3201 has a powerful 6.2 AMP motor that delivers 1,600 SPM, but with less noise (only 81 dbA)) for continuous operation. It is engineered for cutting up to 10 gauge mild steel and 12 gauge stainless steel, with a tight cutting radius of 2” for greater versatility. Unlike nibblers, the new JS3201 cuts with no material loss in the kerf for greater productivity. Additional convenience features include a built-in thickness gauge, lock-on switch for continuous operation, large and easily-replaceable blades with 8 cutting edges each, and a highly visible line-of-sight for precise pattern following. It weighs only 7.4 lbs. with a rubberized soft grip for added comfort.

The new JS1602 is a more compact solution for continuous cutting in 16 gauge mild steel and 18 gauge stainless steel. It’s powered by a 3.3 AMP motor that delivers 4,000 SPM, with a tight cutting radius of 2” for greater versatility. Additional convenience features include a built-in thickness gauge, lock-on switch for continuous operation, large and easily-replaceable blades with 8 cutting edges each, and a highly visible line-of-sight for precise pattern following. It weighs only 3.4 lbs. with a small-circumference barrel grip (only 2-1/4”) for added comfort.
