MAKITA READY TO RACE WITH TWO OF THE SPORT'S TOP DRIVERS IN THE LUCAS OIL OFF ROAD RACING SERIES

Multi-time champion Rob MacCachren and 2011 Rookie of the Year Todd LeDuc join forces with Makita and Rockstar in 2012

Makita joins Rockstar Energy as primary co-sponsors of the Rockstar Makita MacCachren Motorsports Racing Team.

La Mirada, CA – Makita Industrial Power Tools is ready to race in the 2012 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) with two of the sport’s biggest heavyweights: Rob MacCachren, a perennial champion in off-road racing, and Todd LeDuc, 2011 PRO 4 Class Rookie of the Year.  Makita joins Rockstar Energy as primary co-sponsors of the Rockstar Energy Makita Tools MacCachren Motorsports Racing Team.

“It’s tough to overstate the presence that these two fan favorites occupy in off road racing," said Brent Withey, Brand Director, Makita U.S.A.  "Rob MacCachren is one of the most respected drivers in the sport and a proven winner in Baja, in short course racing, and everything in between. We have been partnered with the LeDuc’s since 2008 and supporting Todd LeDuc this year will make it our fifth straight season with him. Todd has always been an amazing PRO 2 driver and when he switched to PRO 4’s last season he really impressed us with how quickly he adapted to the change, ending the season in third place and winning the Rookie of the Year honors. We’re looking forward to hitting the track with our partners at Rockstar for some very exciting racing in 2012.”

Rob MacCachren
Rob MacCachren won the LOORRS PRO 2 Championship in 2010 and finished second overall in 2011. Rob was recently inducted into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2011 for his many accomplishments which include winning over 191 events and 20 championships during his career. For 2012, Rob will compete once again for the PRO 2 Class championship in his Rockstar Energy Makita Tools MacCachren Motorsports Ford truck.

"I have always tried to align myself with the best everything and having Makita part of the team is a perfect fit for us,” said MacCachren. “The Makita tools will help us to be more productive and efficient around the shop and at the race track, which will translate into getting more work and testing done as we work to bring home another championship.”

Todd LeDuc
After competing in the PRO 2 class for several years and winning several races, Todd jumped into the PRO 4 class in 2011. The result was several podium finishes, a 3rd place finish in the season standings, and the prestigious Rookie of the Year award for his tremendous driving ability.  Makita has been supporting Todd LeDuc for the past 4 years and is proud to partner with Todd again this season for the fifth straight year.

“Todd is a tremendous talent and a great ambassador for our brand,” stated Withey. “Not only is he a great driver, but he also has first hand experience with our tools as he does a lot of his own modification, fabrication and repair work on his 900 horsepower race truck.”

“Makita has been with me for a long time now and I’m pumped to have them back on the team again this year,” said Todd LeDuc. “Makita is a huge help to my program and I depend on their tools everyday to get my truck ready to race and stay competitive throughout the season.”

The Rockstar Makita Ford trucks of Rob MacCachren and Todd LeDuc will be in action this weekend as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series kicks off, March 31 and April 1 at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, AZ. Look for the Rockstar Makita teammates to be battling their way to the front of the pack in PRO 2 and PRO 4 action.
