MAKITA AND "THE GENERAL" CAPTURE BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

Deegan tunes up his ride with the LXPH03 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Hammer Driver Drill

NOVEMBER, 2 2012 – La Mirada, CA  Makita sponsored athlete and 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Driver of the Year and Metal Mulisha founder Brian "The General" Deegan took his second consecutive championship title this weekend at Firebird International Raceway in the Pro 2 Unlimited series and Makita Tools was there with him all the way.

Brian led a close three-way battle for the championship title in Saturday’s Pro 2 Unlimited Class. A full course caution was thrown at the end of lap one and on the restart lap, Brian moved up to third. Battling it out for the remainder of the race it was Brian who ultimately took 1st in the end claiming his second consecutive championship title. This was a tough season but one he knew he wanted and ultimately could take as long as he continued to drive smart.

Brian also took home 1st place at Firebird International Raceway in the Pro Lite Unlimited. Brian got out front from the get-go holding the lead the entire race, picking up his fourth win this season.

"I want to thank all of my fans for the support, my family, my friends and my great sponsors! I couldn't have had a better weekend and season. My goal at the beginning of the season was to win back to back Pro 2 championships, it was an awesome battle to the end. I plan on coming back next year for the three-peat," stated Brian.

"The General," Deegan also took home a second place victory in the Global Rallycross Championship (GRC) finale, on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in Las Vegas, NV and once again Makita tools were in the pits ensuring the car would be ready to race.

After suffering a flat tire in a first heat collision Brian was sent to the last-chance qualifier, which he dominated with ease. Brian entered the final round just seven points behind 1st place. Battling it out with Tanner Foust to the end for the championship title Brian claimed second in the points championship by finishing second and earning his fifth podium of the season.

The 2012 GRC season was a huge success for Deegan. After starting out the first round in Charlotte with some mechanical issues, he was able to make an epic comeback with three third-place and two-second place finishes narrowing the gap between him and first place in the points race. Brian capped off the season with a second place finish in the GRC finale.

"I just basically had to go for it. I just shut off my brain and said, 'All right, it's just all or nothing at this point. You've got nothing to lose.’ Went through the last chance, the hardest way, and started in the last row. Somehow I came through that first turn -- I don't know, I out-broke everyone and came around them. I did the best I could to hang in there. I ended up second so it was not a bad day."

Brian led a close three-way battle for the championship title.
