Robbie Malinoski and Darrin Mees each equaled their highest finishes of the season, closing out the 2011 AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series on the podium.
For Malinoski it was another great run in the AMSOIL Pro Open class, resulting in a third place. Robbie was consistently among the top three all season and ended up fourth overall in the standings.
In the Semi-Pro ranks, Mees turned in his best rides of the year at the last two rounds, finishing second and fifth in Lake Geneva. Saturday’s finish brought him to within 7 points of his rival in the championship chase where he would also get the number four overall finish.
On the Thursday prior to the event, the team had the opportunity to represent Rockstar at the Great Lakes Naval Academy in North Chicago. The base was currently hosting over 20,000 seaman, many of whom were able to sample new Rockstar flavors during our visit. Friday brought us to Lake Geneva high school and a visit with students in the automotive tech classes in conjunction with the Air Force.
Lake Geneva, which is a year-round vacation destination for the Chicagoland market, is always a favorite stop on the tour. The ski hill based course is nearly twice as long as our typical venues with huge elevation changes.
With the season now in the books we will move directly into preparation for the 2012 campaign with testing of new equipment from Ski-Doo to begin next week.
Coverage of the Grand Finale can be found on the Versus channel Sunday April 24, at 2pm EST.
