MAKITA 18V LITHIUM-ION 4-PORT CHARGER DELIVERS INDUSTRY-LEADING CHARGE TIMES

New DC18SF charges two 18V LXT® batteries in only 60 minutes for more work and less downtime

18V Lithium-In Rapid Optimum 4-Port Charger (DC18SF)

La Mirada, CA   Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial power and results, has released the new 18V Lithium-Ion Rapid Optimum 4-Port Charger, model DC18SF. The new 4-Port Charger gives contractors industry-leading charge times for more work and less downtime.

“Contractors asked for it, and Makita delivered with a true solution for jobsites running multiple 18 volt batteries,” said Mario Lopez, Makita product manager, cordless tools. “The new DC18SF is engineered with two controllers, not one, so it charges faster. It also has the same battery-monitoring technology of our other best-in-class Lithium-Ion battery chargers, and it has a compact size designed to fit into a job box or tool box.”

Industry-Leading Charge Times
The new DC18SF will accommodate up to four 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion batteries. Unlike existing 4-port chargers powered by a single controller, the DC18SF has two. The controller directs charging energy to the battery, and with two controllers the Makita 4-port charger is more efficient for faster charging (see charge times below):

  • Two Makita 18V LXT® (3.0Ah) Lithium-Ion batteries: 60 minutes
  • Four Makita 18V LXT® batteries: 120 minutes
  • Two Makita 18V Compact (1.5Ah) Lithium-Ion batteries: 30 minutes
  • Four Makita 18V Compact (1.5Ah) Lithium-Ion batteries: 60 minutes

The DC18SF features the “Active 3 Controls” battery-monitoring technology, which is also engineered into the single-port DC18RA Rapid Optimum Charger. During the charging process, the charger communicates with the computer chip inside each battery to monitor current, voltage and temperature to achieve an optimum charging process for faster charging and longer battery life. Makita was the first power tool company to offer an ENERGY STAR® qualified battery charger, and similar to other Makita chargers the new DC18SF 4-Port Charger earned the ENERGY STAR® for its efficient charging process.

Additional features include indicator lights that provide updates on the charging status of each battery. The DC18SF has a compact design at 17.3” long and only 4.5 lbs., and is ideal for use in jobsite gang-boxes and tool boxes.  The new 4-Port Charger is part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT® line up, with 65+ cordless tools powered by one fast-charging 18V Lithium-Ion battery.

Warranty
Makita Lithium-Ion tools are backed by Makita’s 3-Year Warranty which covers repair due to defective materials or workmanship up to three years from the purchase date. 1-year warranty on the batteries and charger.
