MAKITA RELEASES NEW 40V MAX XGT® 15” DETHATCHER / SCARIFIER

New cordless OPE tool features a 2-in-1 design for revitalizing turf

The new 40V max XGT® 15" Dethatcher / Scarifier (GVU01) performs deep cuts that revitalizes turf by allowing water, sunlight, and nutrients to reach lawn roots.

 March 13, 2024, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional tools, power equipment, and accessories, has released the new 40V max XGT® 15" Dethatcher / Scarifier (GVU01) which performs deep cuts that revitalizes turf by allowing water, sunlight and nutrients to reach lawn roots.

 
“Makita is expanding its line-up of 40V XGT® outdoor power equipment with the Dethatcher / Scarifier, which gives users a powerful solution to revitalize turf,” said Nicole Tougas, product manager, outdoor power equipment, Makita U.S.A., Inc. “While dethatchers previously have been heavier gas units, this unit allows more of our users on the XGT® platform to take part in lawn care.”
 
 
Deep Cutting and Adjustability
The 15” Dethatcher / Scarifier includes a Spring Tine Reel with independently flexing steel spring tines for combing and lifting layers of thatch and moss. It also includes a Blade Reel that is designed with 16 steel blades for deep cuts to pull up thick layers of thatch. The Blades are interchangeable and can be installed when the batteries are removed). There is an adjustable dial on the body of the Dethatcher / Scarifier that adjusts the working depth from -15/32” to +3/16”.
 
Convenience Features
Convenience features include a grass catcher bag that holds up to 1.4 bushels of grass, a rubberized soft grip handlebar for added comfort, and a waterproof design that allows washing inside the deck with water. It also features ball bearings in the wheels which provide a smoother drive with better maneuverability and increased durability. The GVU01 also features a tool-less foldable handle for compact storage.
 
XGT®: One System of Cordless Equipment and Tools
The new Dethatcher / Scarifier is part of Makita XGT®, an expanding system of 40V max and 80V max cordless equipment and tools. XGT® gives users one system, from core handheld tools like drills and impact drivers to equipment-grade products including high-capacity saws, rotary hammers, and power cutters – all powered by 40V max XGT® batteries. The expanding XGT System will offer 125+ products in 2024.
