September 3, 2019, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., the innovation leader in cordless power tool technology and cordless outdoor power equipment, is pleased to introduce the new 18V X2 (36V) LXT® Brushless Cordless String Trimmer (XRU15). This new cordless string trimmer replaces the previous generation model XRU09 and expands Makita’s cordless outdoor power equipment offering.
The XRU15 can deliver up to 1.5 hours of run time with two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah Batteries. Its exclusive Makita-built outer rotor brushless motor direct-drive system provides high power and increased torque. Makita’s new string trimmer gives users cordless convenience, without compromising on power or performance.
Upgrades and Features
The cutting swath increase is one of the key upgrades. The XRU15 has a 15” cutting swath, compared to the 13.75” cutting swath of the XRU09. The bump and feed trimmer head is loaded with .080” twisted quiet line. A narrower debris shield provides improved line visibility. The steel drive shaft is made of durable materials for longer life and is designed to reduce vibration. The upgraded loop handle quickly adjusts for user comfort.
All the controls are at the user’s fingertips. The XRU15 has three speed options for power management and a reverse rotation function to quickly clear the trimmer head of entangled grass and weeds.
Technology
The new Makita LXT Cordless String Trimmer is packed with technology. The Torque Drive Technology Mode automatically shifts from 3,500-6,500 RPM for extended run time or added power. This smart technology allows the tool to do the thinking by automatically shifting RPMs to extend run time or add power as needed.
Makita’s Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™). XPT is a series of integrated seals engineered to channel away dust and water for increased durability. Makita Products equipped with XPT are engineered for increased durability and longer tool life.
