#FLASHBACKFRIDAY: MAKITA CREATES BRUSHLESS TOOLS IN 2004

In 2004, Makita’s Assembly Division created brushless tools for use in the defense and aerospace industries. The Makita brushless motor was engineered for extended run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life -- ideal for use in precision assembly applications.

In 2009, Makita released the first 18V brushless impact driver for contractors. Equipped with three speed settings, the 18V LXT Brushless Impact Driver (BTD144) gave contractors unmatched precision, power and control for a full range of fastening applications. 

Today, Makita has over 20 brushless tools, from drills and impacts to saws, rotary hammers, and string trimmers just to name a few – and more are on the way!  Recent additions include: 

• 18V LXT Brushless 3-Speed Impact Driver with Quick-Shift Mode (XDT09M): Delivers a full 3,600 max RPM, 1,550 in.lbs. of Max Torque, and the most compact size in its category. 
• 18V X2 LXT (36V) Brushless String Trimmer (XRU07M): Combines efficient brushless motor technology with 18V X2, giving contractors 36V power and run-time, but without leaving the 18V battery platform.
• 18V LXT Brushless Drywall Screwdriver (XSF03M): The efficient brushless motor -- combined with Makita's exclusive Push Drive™ Technology -- gives drywall contractors a massive increase in run time: it will drive up to 1,860 screws on a single charge of a 4.0Ah battery! (1-1/4" screw attaching 1/2" drywall to a 20 ga. steel stud).
