MAKITA BRINGS NEW VISION AND NEW SOLUTIONS TO GIE+EXPO 2018

October 17, 2018 – Louisville, KY – Makita® is bringing a full range of cordless and gas-powered solutions to this week’s GIE+EXPO, the largest annual trade show for outdoor power equipment, lawn and garden equipment, and landscape.

LXT® Cordless: More Solutions from the Cordless Experts

Makita has the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries – and the system includes a growing range of 18V X2 LXT (36V) tools powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries. Makita engineers combine efficient purpose-built brushless motors, jobsite-proven battery technology, and purpose-built controllers that allow the battery and motor to communicate and work together. The result is optimum cordless performance and un-matched system compatibility. • NEW 18V LXT Brushless 10” Top Handle Chain Saw Kit (XCU06T): Arborists will appreciate this new cordless chain saw with a compact top-handle design. It features an efficient Makita outer rotor brushless motor with direct drive system that delivers high power efficiency (4,720 FPM) that is equivalent to a gas chain saw. Users also benefit from zero emissions, lower noise, and reduced maintenance over gas chain saws. It’s a welcome solution for cutting and trimming applications.


• NEW 18V X2 (36V) LXTBrushless Cordless Couple Shaft Power Head Kit (XUX01M5PT): The Makita LXT cordless power head is compatible with an expanding range of attachments for trimming, edging, cultivating, and brush cutting (sold separately).  Powered by two 18V LXT batteries for maximum cordless performance and run time, it is an ideal solution for a range of outdoor trimming and cutting applications. The new XUX01M5PT kit includes two 18V 5.0Ah batteries, an efficient dual port charger, and a string trimmer attachment with a full 17 inches of cutting diameter. Attendees at GIE will see more new attachments that are compatible with both the cordless (XUX01Z) and 4-stroke engine (EX2650LH) couple shaft power heads.


• 18V X2 (36V) LXT 16” Chain Saw Kit (XCU04PT): The XCU04 is powered by two fast-charging 18V LXT batteries and with a 16” guide bar is the largest cordless chain saw offered by Makita. It also features a purpose-built 36 volt Outer Rotor Brushless Motor BL™ direct drive system motor with variable speed (0-3,940 FPM) for efficient cutting. Users benefit from zero emissions, lower noise, and reduced maintenance over gas chain saws. Also available with a 14” guide bar (model XCU03).

MM4® 4-Stroke: No Fuel Mixing and Faster Starts

Engine seizure due to improper fuel and oil mixing is one of the most common failures of 2-stroke power equipment. MM4 4-stroke engine power equipment is a better solution with no fuel mixing required. The Makita MM4 4-stroke multi-position engine enables the engine to be inclined at any angle for continuous operation. In addition, the automatic engine decompression reduces pull start force by 40% for faster, easier starts, and MM4 users benefit with lower noise, reduced emissions, and the added durability of a commercial-grade 3-ring piston.

The MM4 4-Stroke Engine line includes backpack and handheld blowers, a backpack mist blower, concrete power cutters, string trimmers, brush trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers, telescoping pole pruners and couple shafted (spilt boom) products.

2-Stroke Professional Chain Saws: “Starts Easy, Works Hard”

The integration of Makita and Dolmar power equipment continues to expand the range of Makita-branded chain saws for professional, farm and ranch, and standard use, as well as for the construction professional. Makita chain saws feature a “warm red” trade dress that is strongly preferred on landscaping and forestry job sites. This week at GIE, Makita is featuring new and recent additions including the following:

• NEW 18" 56 cc RIDGELINE™ Chain Saw (EA5600FREG): The new Ridgeline Chain Saw combines a high power-to-weight ratio with easier starts and lower vibration, and is ideal for farm and ranch work environments. The 56cc engine delivers 4.1 HP and an engine speed of 13,800 RPM, with an Easy Start spring-assisted starter. Heavy-duty cartridge filter system increases durability while reducing frequency of maintenance. Added features include an easy-to-clean chain compartment for efficient clearing of chips, even when rip cutting, and an advanced vibration dampening system engineered to reduce vibration.


• 16" 42 cc Chain Saw (EA4300FRDB): This is a best-in-class mid-sized chain saw engineered with professional features and is becoming a favorite for farm and ranch applications. A key point of difference is the industrial 2-sided magnesium (not aluminum) crank case for less weight and added durability. For faster and easier starts, the spring-assisted starter with optimized engine management reduces force required for starting. The result is a versatile and durable chain saw with a superior power-to-weight ratio that delivers consistent performance, job after job.
