Tools In Action recently tried out the 18V X2 LXT® (36V) Brushless String Trimmer, the latest in Makita's expanding line of cordless OPE. It's powered by TWO 18V Lithium-Ion batteries so users get 36V power and run-time, but with the same 18V batteries that will power 100+ 18V tools.
After running the XRU07Z with two 18V 5.0Ah batteries, Eric at Tools In Action said that he has yet to see "anything that compares to this Makita for run time, options and power." He also gave high marks to the efficient 18V Lithium-Ion Dual Port Rapid Optimum Charger, model DC18RD, which will charge two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries at the same time (example: two 18V 5.0Ah batteries in only 45 minutes). He wrapped it up with this: "If you're serious about your OPE, the Makita is a top choice."
