About
The Makita 4-1/2" SJS™II High-Power Angle Grinder (GA4590) features a powerful 15 AMP motor that delivers more output and features a variable speed control dial that allows the user to adjust RPM from 2,800 - 11,500 to match the speed to the application.
The High-Power Angle Grinder features SJS™II, which uses a leaf spring and cam gear drive mechanism that is engineered to reduce vibration for increased operator comfort during extended use. Vibration is further reduced by the vibration absorbing side handle which provides increased comfort on the job.
The GA4590 features an Electronic Controller that provides soft start, which is designed to suppress start-up reaction for smooth start-ups and longer gear life. The High-Power grinder features labyrinth construction seals and protects the motor and bearings from dust and debris for longer tool life. The motor fan is designed with enlarged fins for increased air flow and a cooler running motor.
The GA4590 features spiral bevel gears for smoother rotations and a more efficient transfer of energy. It features a fully aluminum constructed gear housing which provides superior gear alignment and smooth transmission for increased durability and comfort. An Electronic Controller provides an electronic current limiter which helps protect the motor from overload in high torque applications.
Convenience features include a “tool-less" wheel guard for easy adjustment, and a slide switch with lock-on for continuous use.

TECHNOLOGY
Active Feedback-Sensing Technology (AFT®) electronically turns off the motor if rotation of the attachment is suddenly forced to stop.
Excessive vibration in a power tool is wasted motion which may affect a worker’s comfort level and, ultimately, productivity. Makita is bringing unprecedented levels of vibration reduction to the grinder category with the exclusive SJS II™ Technology. SJS™ II is a leaf spring and cam gear drive mechanism that is engineered to reduce vibration for increased operator comfort during extended use. It works by transferring the vibration through the wheel accessory spindle and onto a CAM component. The vibration causes the a cam to press against the leaf spring and absorb vibration for increased operator comfort. [Learn More]
